Style Guide
SOLO PORTRAITS
Your style is personal to you. Wear something that ultimately makes you feel confident and comfortable. Im always an advocate for deep rich colors, they make you pop and bring extra vibrancy to the photos.
My top tip is to be mindful of your location and the time of year. Think of what colors you’ll see in the background. For instance, if it’s an outdoor shoot in the summer, I’d say stay away from greens, browns and tiny prints because you’ll get lost in the photo.
Here is a list of my top Do’s and Dont’s
Do: Be subtle about clothing with company logos on it. Refrain from clothing with heavy logo branding. You want the focus of the photos to be on you.
Don’t: Wear Neon. As much as I lovee bold colors. Neon does not work well in most environments and reflects on to the skin creating unfavorable colors. Instead, opt for a soft or deep rich color you were going for. I.e swap neon pink for a fuchsia pink or soft pastel pink. If you’re not comfortable going with a bold color choice from head to toe, consider a neutral base (tan, white, black, and adding pops of color from there.
Do: Consider adding texture to your look. This could mean adding a cardigan/ jacket, lace, velvet etc. And don’t forget accessories! For a more timeless look, keep the add ons to a minimal.
Don’t: Forget the details. This includes manicured nails, matching socks etc.
Do: Wear shoes you can walk in. If you’re set on wearing a show stopping heel, I’m all for it! Just bring an extra pair of sandals to walk to and from locations.

COUPLES PORTRAITS

For a couples shoot, the goal is to compliment one another. Start by filtering pieces you feel strongly about and are excited to shoot in. Work with your partner to find an article of clothing that compliments that. Stay in the same style genre (prep, casual, urban). You don’t have to be in the exact same color. I actually advise against it. So instead think about complimentary colors. An easy tip is to look at a color wheel! You can also choose to stay in the warm colors or cool colors to keep it simple. For prints/ patterns I recommend limiting it to just one person. You should use the colors in their print to influence the colors you’ll wear!
Here are examples :
Neutrals + small pop of Color
Burgundy + Navy Blue
Hunter green + Pink
Blue plaid shirt w/ hints of yellow - other partner wears something yellow or neutral.
Black + White
